
A Waukee man was arrested Monday after allegedly strangling a Waukee woman in the home, preventing her leaving the residence and threatening to harm her sister.
Johnny Quartez Jackson, 31, of 725 N.W. Second St., Waukee, was charged with domestic abuse assault-impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury, second-degree harassment, false imprisonment and child endangerment.
The incident began about 1 a.m. Monday at a residence in the 700 block of N.W. Second Street, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance involving a weapon.
A caller said a female “was being choked and intimidated by” a male who “pulled a knife on” the female, who was now “being held hostage and was not being allowed to leave her apartment,” according to court records.
The officers made contact with the victim, who confirmed the caller’s report.
A 7-month-old child was present at the time of the incident, according to court records.
Jackson was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $7,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 7 in Dallas County District Court.
Jackson was convicted of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness in 2019 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of child endangerment in 2021 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of third-degree harassment in 2022 in Polk County District Court.
