A Waukee man was arrested Saturday morning after allegedly strangling his wife in the course of a domestic dispute.

Antonio Ramirez, 44, of 702 Collins Dr., Waukee, was charged with domestic abuse assault-impeding flow of air/blood.

The incident began about 10 a.m. Saturday in the 700 block of Collins Drive, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a “domestic fight” in which a woman claimed that “her husband had choked her,” according to court records.

The officers made contact with Ramirez, who “denied placing his hands on the victim’s neck,” according to court records.

The officers made contact with the victim, on whom they observed “red marks on her neck consistent with pressure being applied by someone’s hands,” according to court records.

The victim told the officers that “she struggled to breath while the offender was choking her,” according to court records.

Ramirez was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
