Jacob Glen Stephenson, 32, of Waukee was arrested Sunday on charges of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness, obstruction of emergency communications, first-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A Waukee man was arrested Sunday after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend during a domestic dispute.

Jacob Glen Stephenson, 32, of 1345 S.E. Parkview Crossing Dr., Waukee, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness, obstruction of emergency communications, first-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The incident began about 1:15 a.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of S.E. Parkview Crossing Drive, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who said that Stephenson “took the phone away from her” in the course of an argument and “grabbed both of her arms and yelled at her,” according to court records.

The victim told the officers that she “tried to call 911, and he removed the phone again,” and she “lost her balance and hit her head on a table,” according to court records.

The officers observed on the victim “injuries to her right hand/thumb, her right foot and some markings on her arms and shoulders,” according to court records.

Stephenson is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 6 in Dallas County District Court.
