Waukee native Madeline Judge to lead holiday concert Saturday

Opera star and Waukee native Madeline Judge will sing Saturday night in a special holiday performance.

Noted American soprano and Waukee native Madeline Judge will perform in a holiday concert Saturday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at ArtsCentral, 405 Maple St. in Waukee.

“We are proud to present the Waukee debut of soprano Madeline Judge,” said Cindy DePond, director of the Waukee Area Arts Council, which sponsors the concert. “This one-time-only special holiday performance will feature a variety of music, including holiday, Broadway and opera.”

Now based in New York City, Judge has performed in opera and musical theater and sung in recitals across the U.S. and Europe. Among her operatic credits are La Bergére and La Chouette in “L’enfent et les Sortilèges,” Noémie in “Cendrillon,” Kathie in “The Student Prince,” Dolly Bloomer in “Bloomer Girl,” Mrs. Webb in “Our Town” and Virtu in “L’incoronazione di Poppea.”

Judge is a 2013 graduate of  Drake University, with a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance and a minor in musical theater. She earned a Master of Music degree in vocal performance in 2015 from New York University Steinhardt, with an advanced certificate in vocal pedagogy.

Her intensive study of Italian and French led to summer operatic performances in the Montefeltro Festival in Rimini, Italy, and the Franco American Vocal Academy summer program in Périgueux, France.

Baritone Craig Irvin, a professional vocalist based in Waukee, will join Judge in the evening show.

Tickets for the Waukee Area Arts Council concert are $10 for adults and $5 for students and are available at the Waukee Hardware or by calling 515-402-7870. Tickets will be available at the door as supply permits.
