Rosemary Denise Abrams, 21, of Waukee was arrested Wednesday on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

A Waukee woman was arrested Wednesday on a Dallas County warrant in connection with a Jan. 6 incident in which she allegedly assaulted her roommate in their Waukee apartment.

Rosemary Denise Abrams, 21, of 1255 S.E. University Ave., Waukee, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident occurred about 10:45 p.m. Jan. 6 in the 1200 block of S.E. University Avenue, where a domestic dispute arose between Abrams and the female victim.

According to court records, Abrams “was forcefully attempting to enter” the victim’s bedroom, and the victim “attempted to restrain” and “attempted to control” Abrams in order “to deescalate her.”

In the struggle, Abrams allegedly “used a miniature glass gumball machine to strike the victim over the head twice,” according to court records.

Officers observed on the victim “a head laceration” that required “medical attention,” according to court records.

A warrant for Abrams’ arrest was ordered Jan. 24 in Dallas County District Court and served Jan. 25. She is held in the Dallas County Jail in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
