Wendell Stream, 89, of Woodward passed away Friday, March 2, 2018, at his home in Woodward.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 7 at 10:30 a.m. at the Woodward United Methodist Church in Woodward. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 6 from 5-7 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Burial will be at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry.

Memorials will be given to Woodward United Methodist Church or the Iowa State Patrol Supervisors Association and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care. Online condolences may be sent at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.

Wendell Ward Stream was born May 10, 1928, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Ward Robert and Florence Mae (Brown) Stream.

He graduated from Churdan High School in 1945, attended Iowa State University in the late ’40s and later in life received an AA Degree from NIACC.

Wendell was united in marriage to Carolyn Joanne Harrison in August 1956, and she passed away June 11, 1959.

He then was united in marriage to Donna Rae Lee at the Methodist Church in Perry March 12, 1961.

Wendell worked at the Iowa State Patrol for 29 years, from 1953 to 1982, and he taught at the Law Enforcement Academy at Camp Dodge in Johnston and taught motor vehicle law at NIACC for several years.

Following retirement, he was employed by Beacon Computer in Mason City and did computer upkeep and repairs for various school districts.

Wendell farmed with his dad when needed.

He attended the Woodward United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Peace Officers Retirement and the Woodward American Legion.

In death he rejoins his parents, Ward and Florence Stream, first wife, Carolyn, parents-in-law, David and Vera Lee and Paul and Mildred Harrison.

Left to cherish Wendell’s memory are his wife, Donna Stream of Woodward; son, Douglas Kyle (Debra) Stream of Belgrade, Mont.; two daughters, JoLisa Lee (Shawn) Miles of Urbandale  and Tresa Ann (Brad) Dietrich of Kensett, Iowa; grandchildren, Ryan and Tyler Miles of Urbandale, Kyla Miles of West Des Moines and Anna and Emme Dietrich of Kensett; sister, Gwen (Jim) Wolter of Ames; brother-in-law, Larry (Helen) Harrison of Stone Mountain, Ga.; nieces and nephews, Jone (Terry) Johnson of Iowa City, Clint (Mel) McDonald of Logan, Iowa, Chad (Marilee) McDonald of Elkhart, Iowa, and Kurt Harrison of Stone Mountain, Ga.; and several great nieces and nephews.
