A West Des Moines man was arrested Friday after allegedly beating his girlfriend in front of their three children.

Gustavo Angel Quinonez Ramirez, 24, of 8601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, was charged with second-offense domestic abuse assault and child endangerment.

The incident began when officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance about 11:45 a.m. in the 8600 block of Westown Parkway.

According to court records, during the course of an argument with his girlfriend, who is also the other of their three children, Quinonez Ramirez “used a closed fist and punched her on the side of her head, and on the bicep area of her left arm.”

According to court records, “The three children were all present and in very close proximity of the assault when it occurred” in the home the family has occupied for two years.

Quinonez Ramirez is held in Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 9 in Dallas County District Court.

Quinonez Ramirez was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault in 2018 in Indiana.
