Aldin Rekic, 35, of West Des Moines was arrested Sunday on charges of first-offense domestic abuse assault-display or use a weapon and child endangerment.

A West Des Moines man was arrested Sunday after allegedly threatening to kill himself and his wife in the course of a domestic dispute.

Aldin Rekic, 35, of 6838 Meadow Court, West Des Moines, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-display or use a weapon and child endangerment.

The incident began about 4 p.m. Sunday in the 6800 block of Meadow Court in West Des Moines, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

According to court records, Rekic allegedly “armed himself with a knife approximately five inches in length and made threats to harm himself” and to harm the adult female victim.

A 5-year-old child “was present and witnessed the incident,” according to court records.

Rekic is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 9 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
