A West Des Moines man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly stabbed a Carlisle man with a 14-inch knife and assaulted and threatened to kill the mother of his own children.

Abdul Rub Jalali, 55, of 2105 S.E. First St., West Des Moines, was charged with attempted murder, willful injury causing bodily injury, domestic abuse assault-use or display a weapon and first-degree harassment.

The incident began shortly before midnight Saturday in the 6100 block of Vista Drive in West Des Moines, where Jalali allegedly entered a residence “unannounced” and “began attacking and stabbing the victim” with a 14-inch “hunting-style knife,” according to court records.

The male victim was stabbed two or three times “between the shoulder blades and on the biceps area, causing the victim to be rushed to hospital, where he is currently undergoing surgery,” according to court records.

During the alleged knife attack, Jalali “also grabbed another victim by the hair and began punching her in the face” and saying, “I’m going to kill you, too, bitch!”

The female victim “sustained swelling and redness to the face, and she had a significant amount of hair loss” from Jalali’s “ripping and pulling her hair during the attack,” according to court records.

Jalali and the female victim “share two children together,” according to court records.

Jalali is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 12 in Dallas County District Court.
