Ali Abdulmajeed Mah Al Hakeem, 28, of West Des Moines was arrested Wednesday on a charge of second-degree harassment.

A West Des Moines man allegedly threatened to kill his mother Wednesday night in the course of a domestic dispute.

Ali Abdulmajeed Mah Al Hakeem, 28, of 6387 Vista Dr., West Des Moines, was charged with second-degree harassment.

The incident began about 10:30 p.m. in the 6300 block of Vista Drive, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Al Hakeem “threatened ‘to hurt her’ if she returned to the apartment,” according to court records.

Al Hakeem “refused to talk to law enforcement for an extended period of time but could be heard speaking Arabic on the phone,” according to court records.

An Arabic-speaking translator told the officers that Al Hakeem “made remarks to killing his mother if she comes back in the apartment and alluded to getting a firearm,” according to court records.

The victim told the officers that she felt unsafe around Al Hakeem.

Al Hakeem is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Feb. 13 in Dallas County District Court.
