West Des Moines man allegedly violates Sex Offender Registry

The Waukee Police Department arrested a West Des Moines man Friday for allegedly violating the rules of the Iowa Sex Offender Registry.

Russell Ronald Brimeyer, 35, of 6980 Cody Dr., #14, West Des Moines, was charged with first-offense sex offender registration violation.

Brimeyer is held in the Dallas County Jail in advance of a hearing in the Dallas County District Court.

According to court records, Brimeyer pleaded guilty in 2012 to one count of receipt of child pornography in a plea agreement reached in U.S. District Court in Minnesota. Brimeyer admitted that in 2009 he received several images via his computer that contained depictions of a minor under the age of 12 engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

He was sentenced to five years in a federal penitentiary.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
