A West Des Moines man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Tuesday in connection with an alleged June 6 domestic assault.
Eric Scott Versteeg, 31, of 6455 Galleria Dr., West Des Moines, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and obstruction of emergency communications.
According to court records, the victim was allegedly “attacked” about 6:30 p.m. June 6, when Versteeg allegedly “put his hands around her neck and scratched her neck” and also “left scratches on her stomach.”
The victim said that Versteeg allegedly “dragged her across the living room floor until she was able to free herself and call 911, leaving scratch marks on her knee as well,” according to court records.
A warrant for Versteeg’s arrest was ordered June 7 in Dallas County District Court and served June 29. Versteeg was held in the Dallas County Jail prior to his release on his own recognizance. He is scheduled for arraignment Aug. 12 in Dallas County District Court.
*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
