A West Des Moines man was arrested Tuesday afternoon with some 36 ounces of methamphetamine.
Orlands Larson Gates III, 25, of 9165 Greenspire Drive, West Des Moines, was charged with controlled substance violation, failure to affix drug stamp and person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons.
The incident began about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at a residence in the 200 block of Boulder Court in Waukee, where agents of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, with the assistance of local drug task forces, executed a search warrant.
The search disclosed “several clear bags of methamphetamine mixture that weighed more than 1,000 grams,” according to court records.
A search of gates’ West Des Moines residence disclosed “four handguns, two shotguns and one AK-style gun,” according to court records.
Gates is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Dec. 6 in Dallas County District Court.
