A West Des Moines man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly assaulting his wife in the course of a domestic dispute.
Paul Thomas Stewart, 42, of 8242 Heritage Bend Road, West Des Moines, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday in the 8200 block of Heritage Bend Road, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
According to court records, the victim told the officers that Stewart allegedly “grabbed both her arms and squeezed” following a verbal altercation.
The officers observed “bruising to the left and right bicep” of the victim, according to court records.
Stewart is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 5 in the Dallas County District Court.
