West Des Moines motorcyclist dies in Madison County head-on

Daniel LeRoy Conrad, 51, of West Des Moines killed Tuesday about 7 p.m. when the motorcycle he was driving was struck head-on in a curve on County Road G14 in northeast Madison County.

A West Des Moines motorcyclist died Tuesday evening in northeast Madison County when he was struck head-on by an oncoming vehicle.

According to a crash report issued by the Iowa State Patrol (ISP), Daniel LeRoy Conrad, 51, of West Des Moines was traveling westbound about 7 p.m. on his 2001 Honda GL1800 on County Road G14 and was in a curve of the county road near its intersection with the Cumming Road and Vintage Avenue.

A 2015 Jeep Cherokee, operated by Tiffany Sue Lunsch, 41, of Bettendorf, was traveling eastbound in the curve on County Road G14 when her vehicle entered the westbound lane and struck Conrad’s vehicle.

Both vehicles came to rest in the south ditch, according to the ISP.

Conrad was pronounced dead at the scene. Lensch refused medical treatment at the scene.

The accident is under investigation by the ISP.

The Madison County Sheriff’s office, Madison County Fire and Norwalk EMS also responded.
