A West Des Moines woman was arrested Thursday night after allegedly beating up her girlfriend in their West Des Moines apartment.

Mariyah Renee Perry, 18, of West Des Moines was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 10:30 p.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of 62nd Street in West Des Moines, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who said that Perry “struck her multiple times in the face with her fist,” according to court records.

The officers observed that the victim “had multiple red bruising on her face.”

Perry told the officers that she and the victim “had been arguing and it turned physical,” with mutual pushing “forcing them both into an infant crib,” according to court records.

Perry was held in the Dallas County Jail prior to her release on her own recognizance. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing March 11 in Dallas County District Court.
