Jane Elizabeth Cavanaugh, 39, of West Des Moines was arrested Sunday night on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

A West Des Moines woman was arrested Sunday night after allegedly assaulting an Urbandale man in a Mexican restaurant in Waukee.

Jane Elizabeth Cavanaugh, 39, of 7132 Pommel Place, West Des Moines, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

According to court records, the incident occurred at Los Tres Amigos restaurant at 63 N.E. Carefree Lane in Waukee, where Waukee Police Department Officers were dispatched about 9:30 p.m. Sunday on a report of a fight.

The victim, a 46-year-old male, told police he and Cavanaugh were sitting in a booth in the restaurant when Cavanaugh “shoved” him “in the face with her hand from across the table” and then “got out of the booth, put her coat on and got into the booth on his side” and “shoved his head against the booth.”

According to court records, an officer observed “red marks on the right side of” the victim’s “face,” where he said Cavanaugh “had shoved him.”

The victim said Cavanaugh “stays at his residence on the days when his child is not there.”

Court records indicate Cavanaugh admitted that “she initiated physical contact during the incident, by grabbing the back of his head.”

Cavanugh was held in the Dallas County Jail before being released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled for arraignment March 19 in Dallas County District Court.

Cavanaugh was convicted of assault in 2003 in Polk County District Court.

  1. I think it’s bulls..t you all have her living address out here like this. Does everyone need to no where she lives as well as the crime? It wasn’t drugs coming from the house. I’m sure the story said restaurant. At anytime no one’s address just be public.

  2. Lisa Hughes, I completely agree with you. There should be no reason why this woman’s address is put out there. It’s totally irrelevant to why she was arrested, and it’s really no one else’s business. Hell, they might as well give her phone number out, too.
