CARLISLE — Perry was held to just five points in the first quarter and only three in the third period as Carlisle claimed a 58-43 victory in Raccoon River Conference girls basketball Friday.
The Wildcats (9-6, 5-3) scored the first 12 points of the game before Emma Olejniczak sank a free throw five minutes and 46 seconds into the game. Olejniczak had all five of Perry’s points in the opening frame, which ended with the hosts holding a 14-5 edge.
The Jayettes (7-8, 3-5) were still in the contest at the half despite a 30-18 deficit. The odds of a road victory evaporated in the following eight minutes, during which Perry was outscored 11-3, with a Taylor Lathrum basket and a Grace Stewart free throw the only Jayette points in the period.
Three-pointers from Mariah Duffy and Stewart surrounded baskets from Olejniczak and Alyssa Kruger as the visitors closed to within 12 points halfway through the final period, but Perry was unable to complete the comeback and dropped their second straight conference road game after Tuesday’s 60-30 loss at Boone.
Olejniczak led Perry with 14 points, with Stewart adding 10. Lathrum had six points, Grace Marburger five, with Duffy and Victoria Hegstrom providing three points apiece and Kruger two points.
Perry hosts Ballard Tuesday before visiting Carroll Friday.
