Wildcats spoil Homecoming for Panthers

PANORA, IOWA — West Central Valley rushed for over 300 yards and finished with a 24-additional offensive play advantage to silence Panorama, 23-0, in Class 1A District 7 action Friday.

WCV (3-3, 1-2) ran 76 plays to just 52 for Panorama (1-5, 0-3), wearing down the Panther defense and handing the hosts a Homecoming setback.

Wildcat quarterback Braiden Beane scored on a one-yard run in the second quarter for a 7-0 lead. The margin went to 10-0 at the half when Nate Gerling split the uprights with a 43-yard field goal.

Neither team scored in the third quarter, with touchdown runs of 13 yards and of two yards form Hunter Keller cementing the victory.

Beane was only 1-of-4 through the air for nine yards while throwing two interceptions, but he ran for 130 yards and a score on 26 carries.

Keller had 113 yards and two TDs of 12 rushes, with Kaedon Lindsay carrying the ball 19 times for 65 yards.

Austin Block was picked off once while connecting on 4-of-12 passes for the hosts, with Cayden VanMeer 3-of-11. The former had 30 yards through the air and the latter 11.

Gavin Godfrey (2-20), Ryan Cogil (1-12), Nile Lindstrom (3-7) and Josh VanWinkle (1-2) all caught passes for the Panthers.

Cogil ran 16 times for 68 yards, with Block having 21 yards on seven totes and Jared Wasson nine yards on one carry.

Block and Braedon Draper each had an interception for the home team, with Wasson recovering a WCV fumble.

Cooper Andersen led the defense with 10 tackles. VanWinkle made nine stops and Klayton Bremer eight, with Jacob Walker contributing five denials.

Panorama visits AC/GC Friday before hosting Nodaway Valley Oct. 15.
