Wildcats stop Jayettes on Senior Night

Perry's Lanie FIsh, Kacy Nevitt, Jenisis Cerna, Jasmine Shriver, Quinn Whiton, Angela Vargas (manager), and Bella Nath all played their final seasons of prep volleyball. Shriver was named to the All-Raccoon River Conference Honorable Mention list.

The Perry volleyball team honored a septet of seniors Tuesday before their Raccoon River Conference match with Carlisle.

Jenisis Cerna, Lanie Fish, Bella Nath, Kacy Nevitt, Jasmine Shriver, and Quinn Whiton, along with manager Angela Vargas, were recognized for their dedication to the program by head coach John Fulton.

Carlisle improved to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in RRC play with a 3-0 sweep in the varsity match. The Wildcats with scores of 25-17, 25-12, and 29-27 to drop the Jayettes to 0-9, 0-3.

Perry struggled serving the ball, connecting on just 38-of-48 (79.2 percent) with five total aces.

Jenisis Cerna was 8-of-8 with two aces with Jayna Kenney 6-of-6 with two aces while Ashley Cerna was 5-7-1. Shriver was 10-of-11, Nevitt 4-of-7, Whiton 4-of-6, and Peyton Tunink 1-of-3.

Nevitt had six kills, Shriver three and Whiton two, with Kenney and Lanie Fish each making one kill. Whiton had 13 assists for the hosts.

Shriver and Whiton had 16 digs apiece and Jenisis Cerna 15, with Nevitt making 10 digs, Ashley Cerna five, Kenney two and Fish and Nath one each. Nevitt and Maci Tunink had one assisted block apiece.

Perry will host the annual Jayette Invitational Thursday, which will begin at 4:30 p.m. The hosts begin play against Earlham before facing South Hamilton, with both games in the varsity gym. Perry then plays Ogden in the middle school gym before returning to the varsity court to battle West Central Valley and Nodaway Valley.
