Offensive woes continued to plague the Perry girls Friday, as visiting Carlisle opened a 30-8 halftime lead in claiming a 50-27 Raccoon River Conference victory.
Perry’s point output was more than double the combined points of their previous two outings, but was not enough to overcome their first half deficit, despite improved play that saw the host outscored only 20-19 after the intermission.
The Jayettes (1-6, 0-2) faced a 12-2 hole after eight minutes of play before entering the break on the wrong side of a 22-point gap.
The Wildcats (3-2, 2-0) were lead by 13 points from Ceora LeClaire, 10 from Meredith Hoffman and seven from Molly Hoekstra.
Molly Lutmer had a game-high 18 points for Perry. Isabel Saemisch added four points, with freshmen Ainsley Marburger and Quinn Whiton each scoring two points while Grace Stewart added a free throw.
Perry will next step onto the hardwood Tuesday when Norwalk visits for a non-conference set, with a trip to RRC rival ADM on tap for Friday.
