William ‘Bill’ Robertson of Perry

Funeral services for Bill Robertson, 91, of Perry will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25 at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Violet Hill Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, with family present, at the Murdock Funeral Home.

Bill passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

William Henry Robertson was born March 20, 1927, in Hubbard, Iowa, the son of John H. and Myrtle M.(Hildebrand) Robertson.

He grew up and attended schools in Hubbard and graduated from Hubbard High School in 1944.

Bill entered the U.S. Navy in 1944 and was honorably discharged, after serving his country for 22 years, Sept. 12, 1966.

Bill married Janet Newcomb Jan. 18, 1953. They moved to Perry in 1966 shortly after his military discharge.

Janet passed away in 1981.

On Feb. 11, 1984, Bill married Lena Neubauer Wait at the First United Methodist Church.

Bill was a member of the VFW and served as the commander from 1972-1973, was a member of the American Legion, governor of the Moose Lodge for a time and was a president for the Little League in Perry.

Survivors include his wife, Lena Robertson of Perry; son, Scott (Sandi) Robertson of Trevor, Wis.; step-son, Brian (Leanne) Wait of Slater, Iowa; daughters, Karen (Dennis) King of League City, Texas, Cheryl Robertson of Winter Springs, Fla., and Paula (Jeff) South of Perry; step-daughters, Christie (Dale) Brownell of Bellevue, Neb., and Diane (Joe) Munoz of Windsor Heights; one sister, Ann (Claire) Steelman of Ames; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Janet (Newcomb) Robertson; four brothers; and one sister.

Memorials in Bill’s name may be sent to Murdock Funeral Home.
