High wind advisory is in effect for Dallas County.

From the National Weather Service:

HIGH WIND WARNING, WIND ADVISORY:

Issued at: 8:50 PM CST on November 11, 2015, expires at: 6:00 PM CST on November 12, 2015

 

…High Wind Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST Thursday… …Wind Advisory remains in effect from 6 am to 6 PM CST Thursday…

short term trends…the strongest winds will occur over over western and northern Iowa and into central Iowa tonight and remain quite strong through Thursday. The strongest wind on Thursday will occur in the morning.

Winds…sustained at 35 to 40 mph with gusts approaching 60 mph for much of tonight. The wind will diminish some to 30 to 35 mph with gusts around 45 mph on Thursday.

Impacts…the strong winds will affect travelers…especially high profile vehicles on north south roads. Loose objects will also be blown around. Precautionary/preparedness actions… A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage. A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult…especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
