Wind chill advisory from 9 p.m. Thursday to noon Friday

The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Johnston has issued a wind chill advisory for the Perry area from Thursday at 9 p.m. until noon Friday, with very cold wind chills as low as 35 below zero forecast.

The wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes or less, the NWS said.

Use caution while traveling outside, and wear appropriate clothing, a hat and gloves.

Along with Dallas County, the wind chill advisory is in effect in Emmet, Kossuth, Winnebago, Worth, Palo Alto, Hancock, Cerro Gordo, Pocahontas, Humboldt, Wright, Franklin, Butler, Bremer, Sac, Calhoun, Webster, Hamilton, Hardin, Grundy, Black Hawk, Crawford, Carroll, Greene, Boone, Story, Marshall, Tama, Audubon, Guthrie, Polk, Jasper,
Poweshiek, Cass, Adair, Madison, Warren and Marion counties.

Along with Perry, cities under the wind chill advisory include Estherville, Algona, Forest City,
