Wind chill advisory from midnight Wednesday to 10 a.m. Thursday

The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Johnston has issued a wind chill advisory for the Perry area from midnight Wednesday until 10 a.m. Thursday, with wind chills to minus 25 degrees forecast.

The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

Along with Dallas County, the wind chill advisory is in effect in Carroll, Greene, Boone, Story, Marshall, Tama, Guthrie, Polk, Jasper and Poweshiek counties.

Along with Perry, cities under the wind chill advisory include Carroll, Jefferson, Boone, Ames, Marshalltown, Tama, Toledo, Traer, Dysart, Gladbrook, Guthrie Center, Panora, Bayard, Casey, Waukee, Adel, Des Moines, Newton and Grinnell.
