Wind chill advisory from Tuesday night until 9 a.m. Wednesday

The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Johnston has issued a wind chill advisory for the Perry area from midnight tonight until 9 a.m. Wednesday, with very cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero forecast.

The wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes or less, the NWS said.

Use caution while traveling outside, and wear appropriate clothing, a hat and gloves.

Along with Dallas County, the wind chill advisory is in effect in Sac, Carroll, Guthrie and Polk counties.

Along with Perry, cities under the wind chill advisory include Sac City, Lake View, Odebolt, Wall Lake, Schaller, Early, Carroll, Guthrie Center, Panora, Bayard, Casey, Waukee, Adel and Des Moines.
