The National Weather Service office on Johnston has issued a wind advisory for the Perry area until 4 a.m. Friday, with the northwest wind gusting to 50 mph, according to the forecast.

A steady northwest wind of 20 to 30 mph could blow around unsecured objects, and tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages might result, the NWS said.

For travelers, reduced visibility from falling or blowing snow might briefly occur Thursday evening as snow continues to push eastward from central into eastern and southeastern Iowa.
