ATLANTIC — A pair of Saturday losses at the Atlantic Classic dropped Perry to 4-11 overall.

Treynor (11-2) was a 7-5 winner over Perry in the first game, with Atlantic (10-4) claiming a 10-4 win in the second contest. Atlantic scored a 6-5 victory over Treynor in the final game.

Treynor was off to a 3-0 lead over Perry in their contest, but two runs by Bluejays in the bottom of the first and single tallies in the second and third but the Cardinals into a 4-3 hole.

A two-run fourth and a one-run fifth pushed Treynor into a 6-4 lead, with Perry scoring once in the fifth to close to within 6-5. A Cardinal run in the sixth went unanswered, leaving the Jays with the 7-5 loss.

Dean Bedell was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs for Treynor, with Grant Mantell 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored.

Perry saw a quick 1-0 lead turn into a 6-1 deficit after three innings against Atlantic, with the hosts leading, 11-2, after five frames. The Jays plated three runs in the top of the sixth but could come no closer in suffering the setback.

Ryan Hawkins did much of the damage for the Trojans with three doubles, four RBIs and two runs scored while Brendan Holmes adding two doubles and two runs and Noah Buckner a double and two runs.

Perry was coming off a 19-12 loss at Nighthawk Field in Slater to host Ballard Thursday.

The Bombers owned a 4-1 advantage before five Bluejay runs in the top of the fourth pushed Perry into a 6-4 lead. Four Ballard runs in their following at-bat made it 8-6 in favor of the hosts, but Perry scored once to set the score at 8-7 when the hosts suddenly erupted, scoring eight times in the fifth to seize 16-7 lead.

Perry refused to give in, plating five runs in the sixth to come within 16-12, but Ballard immediately responded with three more runs to set the final score, dropping Perry to 2-4 in Raccoon River Conference play.

Jonny Luster smacked a home run and added two other hits while driving in six runs and scoring three times for the Bombers. Marcus Chieves was 4-for-5 with two triples, four RBIs and four runs scored, with Taylor Roberts 3-for-4 with a double and three runs.

Perry is scheduled to host Gilbert tonight in a non-conference meeting before entertaining RRC foe ADM Wednesday and visiting Saydel in another non-conference contest Thursday.
