The National Weather Service office in Des Moines has extended a winter weather advisory for central and southeast Iowa, including the Perry area, until 1 a.m. Sunday.

Additional snow accumulations of up to 2 inches are expected, and brisk northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph, gusting to more than 35 mph, will reduce visibility to one mile at times and create hazardous travel conditions.

Slippery road conditions and reduced visibilities continue. Travelers are advised to use caution while driving. The latest road conditions for Iowa can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

Dallas County cities affected by the winter weather advisory include Adel, Booneville, Bouton, Dallas Center, Dawson, De Soto, Dexter, Granger, Linden, Minburn, Perry, Redfield, Van Meter, Waukee and Woodward.

ThePerryNews.com will update this weather story as forecasts evolve.
