A winter weather advisory is in effect for the Perry area until 8 p.m. Tuesday as strong west to northwest winds develop behind a passing front Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) offices in Johnston.

Snow up to one inch is possible and gusts up to 40 mph are forecast into the early evening hours, the NWS said, with patchy blowing snow possible in portions of central and north-central Iowa.

Visibility might be reduced to below one-half mile at times in blowing snow. Motorists are advised to use caution in areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility.

ThePerryNews.com will update this weather story as forecasts evolve.
