WINTERSET — An 8-2 lead did not prove to have any sustainability for Perry, as Winterset rallied for 11 unanswered runs to post a 13-8 win in their Raccoon River Conference baseball meeting Monday.

The Huskies scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth to cut the Bluejay lead to 8-6, then scored seven times in the fifth frame to roar back for the win. Perry fell to 6-14 and 3-5 in RRC play with the loss while Winterset moved to 8-7 and 4-4 with their sixth consecutive victory.

Colby Van Pelt did the most damage for the hosts. He had a single, double and triple while driving in a pair of runs.

Janier Puente was 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, a RBI and had three runs score from his position while Adan Medina finished 2-for-2 with a walk, a sacrifice, a run and a RBI.

Kyle Nevitt had a hit and two runs scored, with Kade VanKirk adding a single, two walks and a run scored while Alex Long, Brandon Kenyon and Alexis Garrido provided base hits. Garrido had a RBI, with Long scoring once.

Puente took the loss on the hill in 4.1 frames, with Garrido finishing out the game. Additional pitching stats were unavailable.

Perry visits Carroll Wednesday and Boone Thursday before hosting Knoxville at Progressive Field Friday in a non-conference tilt.
