Kibby Cavanaugh, 18, might be the youngest member on the Woodward Volunteer Fire Department, but he is not the least experienced. How could he be when his father and grandfather have together served on the department for a combined 60 years?
The youngest Cavanaugh is a senior at Woodward-Granger High School. For his senior class project, he created a hose-drying rack for the fire station. The rack stands about 8 feet tall, and the top has teeth like a comb. Hoses are strung along the teeth, hanging loose to dry.
The Woodward Volunteer Fire Department currently has 28 firefighters on its roster, with one in the process of joining. Along with Kibby, the department’s newest members include Jay Goff, Matt Braymer and Bradon Carpenter. All have attained Firefighter I status.
