Woodward-Granger cross country runs at Roland-Story

STORY CITY — Thursday saw the Woodward-Granger harriers navigate the course at the Roland-Story Invitational, the official results of which were delayed in being reported.

The Hawk girls were 11th with 286 points and the W-G boys 12th at 307. R-S (32), Panorama (80), and Bondurant-Farrar (85) claimed the top three girls team spots, with Madrid (25), Ogden (89) and B-F (99) the first trio in the boys race.

Libby Grell (24 minutes, 57 seconds), Makenzie Dresback (27:52) and Kaitlyn Smith (28:45) were the first three Hawk girls to cross, placing 31-58-62, respectively. Avery Smith (67th, 29:37) and Madisyn Mann (68th, 30:08) also scored for the varsity, with Marissa Trees (70th, 32:50) running for W-G as well.

Carsten Wright finished 20th, in 19:10, to lead the Hawk boys. Joel Harney was 67th in 22:11 and Tjaden Smeltzer 71st in 22:31, with Healey Hill (74th, 23:19) and Dillon Limoges (75th, 23:32) also scoring. Elijah Bell (76th, 23:41) and Kurt Crouse (80th, 24:23) made the circuit for the Hawks but did not have their placings used for the team total.

W-G will run at Ogden (Don Williams Golf Course) at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, with only the Hawk high school teams running Thursday at the West Central Valley Invite. The event will be held at WCV Middle School in Redfield, with the girls varsity to start at 4:50 p.m.
