Woodward-Granger golf teams play at Earlham

EARLHAM — Sugar Creek was the site for a coed WCC golf meet between host Earlham and Woodward-Granger, with Madrid joining the Cardinals and Tigers on the boys side of the event.

The three boys teams were within a handful of strokes of each other, with Earlham shooting a 171, W-G a 174 and Madrid a 177. W-G defeated Earlham, 210-224, in the girls meet.

The Hawk boys were led by Brady Aunspach and Austin Ober, who each tallied scores of 43, with Jordan Pierce and Nick Brummond both carding rounds of 44. Nick Musich (49) and Max Helbling (52) also played for W-G, but did not have their scores used for the team total.

Ben Clement’s 36 led Earlham, with Canyon Hopkins shooting a 43, Tyler Hamilton 44 and Gable Johnson a 48, with Jerod Leporte (54) and Jim Knight (54) also in action for the Cardinals.

Madrid received scores from Aaron Sperling (43), C.J. Lowe (43), Acey Zander (44) and Jacob Sohrada (47). Cole Houseman (47) and Jake Meeker (48) also played for the Tigers.

Paige Mescher’s 49 led the W-G girls, with Aubrey Mescher (52), Karley Jacobus (54) and Cierra DeHoet (55) also scoring while Kayla Crouse (60) and Kelsey Renshaw (62) played but did not have their rounds used for the team final.

Lexie Kliegl (47), Kari Coulter (53), Devin Hensley (54) and Chelsea Hildenbrand (70) scored for the hosts, with Cassie Bond (84) also playing.
