Kevin Francis Johns, 39, of Adel was arrested Monday on charges of second-offense domestic abuse assault, child endangerment-injury and obstruction of emergency communications.

A Woodward man was arrested early Tuesday after allegedly assaulting his wife and endangering his son in the home.

Kevin Francis Johns, 39, of 126 S. Main St., Woodward, was charged with second-offense domestic abuse assault, child endangerment and obstruction of emergency communications.

The incident began about 11:45 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of S. Main Street, where an officer of the Woodward Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

According to court records, an altercation took place in the residence, where Johns allegedly “head butted and also tried to strangle” the victim.

Johns’ “son was in the residence when this incident took place,” according to court records.

In the course of the altercation, the victim tried “to call for help,” but Johns allegedly “grabbed her phone,” which he then “dropped and kicked under the table,” according to court records. The victim was eventually “able to get her phone and run outside to finally make her call.”

The officer observed on the victim “marks on her forehead as well as marks around her neck,” according to court records.

Johns is held in the Dallas County Jail in advance of an initial appearance in the Dallas County District Court.

Johns was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault in 2020 in Boone County District Court.
