GRANGER — Woodward-Granger sophomore Brandon Worley allowed only three hits and issued only one walk in a complete-game victory over Des Moines Christian in a key WCAC contest Monday.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]
W-G’s 4-0 win lifted the Hawks to 9-2 overall and into a second-place tie with DMC (7-4) at 6-1 in the WCAC, with both one game behind Van Meter.
Worley (3-0) has allowed only 14 total hits and just two walks in 19 innings pitched this season. Monday’s victory lowered his ERA to a miniscule 1.11.
The hosts scored once in the bottom of the fourth, then helped secure the victory with three runs in the sixth.
Jack Grell had two singles and a RBI, with Reese Jamison adding a double. Joe Rhodes, Hunter Pifer and Worley all hit singles, with Cole Theisen drawing three walks. Nick Brummond drove in two runs and scored once, with Pifer adding a RBI while Jamison and Rhodes scored the other W-G runs.
