Xenia issues boil order for central Dallas County

The Xenia Rural Water District issued a boil advisory Wednesday for Dallas County customers who live in the general area north of Dallas Center, east of Minburn, south of Highway 141 and west of W Avenue.

Xenia customers in this zone are advised to boil water before drinking it. The boil order is in effect until further notice.

The boil order follows a water main break and loss of pressure in the Xenia distribution system. Bacteria and other organisms can enter the system when pressure is lost.

The towns of Dallas Center and Minburn are not affected by the advisory.

To avoid contamination, water should first be brought to a boil and let boil for one minute. After cooling, it may be drunk or bottled. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, food preparation, bathing and similar purposes.

After water service is restored, Xenia will test the water to ensure its safety. A notice will be given to customers of the rural water district once the boil advisory has been lifted.
