Winter weather advisory on from midnight to 6 p.m. Thursday

The National Weather Service office in Des Moines has issued a winter weather advisory for the Perry area and portions of central and southern from midnight Wednesday until 6 p.m. Thursday.

Between three and five inches of snow are forecast.

The snow will develop from west to east across central and southern Iowa Thursday morning, mixing with light freezing drizzle through Thursday afternoon, particularly across southern Iowa. Light to moderate snow accumulations and very light ice accumulations are forecast through Thursday evening.

Slippery road conditions could impact the morning or evening commute and make travel difficulties.

Along with Dallas County, the following Iowa counties are included in the winter weather advisory: Sac, Calhoun, Crawford, Carroll, Greene, Boone, Audubon, Guthrie, Polk, Cass, Adair, Madison, Warren, Adams, Union, Clarke, Lucas and Wayne.

Along with Perry, the winter weather advisory includes the cities of Sac City, Lake View, Odebolt, Wall Lake, Schaller, Early, Rockwell City, Manson, Lake City, Pomeroy, Denison, Carroll, Jefferson, Boone, Audubon, Exira, Guthrie Center, Panora, Bayard, Casey, Waukee, Adel, Des Moines, Atlantic, Greenfield, Stuart, Adair, Fontanelle, Winterset, Earlham, Indianola, Norwalk, Carlisle, Corning, Creston, Osceola, Chariton, Corydon, Seymour, Allerton and Humeston.
