WOODWARD, Iowa — The Dallas County Conservation Board was doubly blessed Monday when it received two $500 grants, the first from Minburn Communications and the second from Aureon.
Conservation Board Executive Director Mike Wallace accepted the donations at the new Minburn Communications corporate office here. The funds derive from the Aureon Charity Grant and the Minburn Communications Community Impact Program.
Wallace said the donations will be put toward the recreational connector trail linking the High Trestle Trail and the Raccoon River Valley Trail, the state’s most prominent multi-use trails. The expansion is a 9-mile stretch of former railroad right-of-way from Woodward via Bouton to Perry.
“Minburn Communications appreciates the efforts of the Dallas County Conservation Board. Their dedication to advancing our community trails greatly impacts us all,” said Debra Lucht, CEO and general manager of Minburn Communications. “We are excited to see this new trail pass along our new corporate office. We also are proud to partner with Aureon to make this grant possible.”
Construction of the connector trail is slated for completion in 2020, Wallace said.
“Aureon is delighted to support nonprofit organizations that enhance the quality of life for Iowans,” said Aureon CEO Ron Keller. “We look forward to aiding future community-improvement projects and extend our best wishes to your community.”
The Minburn Communications Community Impact Program started in 2018 as part of the organization’s commitment to making an impact on the communities it serves. The company contributes to community enrichment and economic development through corporate giving, a USDA Revolving Loan Fund, sponsorships and employee volunteerism.
The Aureon Charity Grant dates from 1993 and aims to increase service and support to rural independent telecommunication companies and the communities they serve. Aureon Charity Grants are awarded on a quarterly basis. Community organizations who receive service from local telecommunication companies like Minburn Communications are encouraged to participate.
