The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Des Moines forecasts a wet weekend for the Perry area as light rain or possibly a wintry mix spreads from southwest to northeast across Iowa late Friday night into early Saturday morning.
Any wintry mix will have minimal impact on travel, the NWS said.
Moderate rainfall is possible Saturday, with above-freezing temperatures leading to snowmelt. The resulting runoff is expected to lead to significant within-bank rises and the
possibility of ice jams.
A few thunderstorms will be possible south of U.S. Interstate 80 and east of U.S. Interstate 35 Saturday afternoon. Strong winds, with gusts in excess of 40 mph, will also develop Saturday night and persist into Sunday.
