A gap opened Saturday in the ranks of the Dallas County Emergency Medical Services with the death of longtime Paramedic Daniel Lindsay, 49, of Grimes.

“It’s with a heavy heart this morning that we announce the passing of Paramedic Dan Lindsay,” read the Facebook post on the Dallas County EMS page. “Dan passed away from a medical condition while off duty. Dan will be sorely missed by his Dallas County EMS coworkers and the lives that he touched here in his 19-plus years. Rest easy, brother, we’ll take it from here.”

Tributes posted to Facebook were many for the EMS paramedic.

“The Dallas County community has lost a great man and paramedic, Dan Lindsay,” the Dallas County Sheriff’s Benevolent Association said on Facebook. “Our hearts and prayers go out to his family, friends and fellow co-workers at the Dallas County EMS. He will be a great loss.”

“Perry PD wishes to pass on their condolence to the family of Dan Lindsay and Dallas County EMS,” said the Perry Police Department on Facebook. “Lindsay will be missed by the department and community.”

“I do know that I’m a better person for having known you, worked with you and learned everyday from you,” said Linday’s longtime Dallas County EMS partner and friend, Paramedic Lee Coons of Perry. “I’ll try and continue to live up to the standards you taught me. The sun will rise tomorrow, and I will go man my spot on the Blue shift and make you proud. I just need your promise that you’ll have my back for the remainder of my ride, however long that may be.”
