The Dallas County Democrats held their annual fundraising banquet Thursday at the Country Lane Lodge.
Headlining the event were presidential candidates Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, and businessman Andrew Yang of New York, N.Y. Other speakers included Rep. Cindy Axne, D-Iowa, and State Rep. Kenan Judge, D-Waukee.
Attendees at the partisan party enjoyed a pasta buffet dinner, cash bar, silent and live auctions and a series of peppy speeches. Local Dallas County Democrats Lela and Art Behn and Wayne Reisetter was given awards of recognition for their service to the party.
“A beautiful evening with some wonderful Democrats,” a party spokesperson said afterward on Facebook. “Our 2019 Spring Fundraiser was an overwhelming success and we cannot wait to keep working hard through 2020.”
Gabbard and Yang currently share the primary field with fellow Democrats Joe Biden, Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg, Julián Castro, John Delaney, Kirsten Gillibrand, Mike Gravel, Kamala Harris, John Hickenlooper, Jay Inslee, Amy Klobuchar, Wayne Messam, Seth Moulton, Beto O’Rourke, Tim Ryan, Eric Swalwell, Elizabeth Warren and Marianne Williamson and Independent Bernie Sanders.
