Tuesday’s lunch hour at Perry High School served as the third annual College Decision Day, with nearly 80 students publicly announcing their future plans.
A wide number of colleges and universities had representatives and admission recruiters on hand, with the Iowa National Guard and U.S. Marine Corps also present.
Seniors brought their lunches into the gym at 11 p.m. with the Perry Booster Club setting cups of candy and treats on the tables. The schools and military branches attending had a myriad of information available for interested students, as well as providing small gifts.
Students wore college or service-related clothing to the event. They were called, by destination, onto the stage, where they signed certificates pledging their choices, and then posed for photos.
Underclassmen brought their lunches into the gym as well and were able to watch a portion of the class of 2019 experience the ceremony. The intervals between the A and B lunch and B and C lunch schedules offered an opportunity for seniors to mingle, play a variety of games, visit any of the information tables of pose in groups at an “I Decided” photo setting.
