ANITA — Class 1A CAM entered Monday’s non-conference scrap with visiting Woodward-Granger riding a 10-game winning streak. When the dust settled, the Cougars run had been disrupted by an 11-6 Hawk victory.

W-G (18-7) trailed, 2-0, after two innings, but produced a six-run third inning to snatch a four-run lead. Three Hawk tallies in the fourth made in 9-2, but the hosts scored once in the fourth and again in the fifth to stay within range at 9-4.

The guests touched home once in each of their last frames at the plate to open an 11-4 gap, with two final Cougar runs in the seventh setting the final.

Worth Henry tossed six innings for W-G, allowing six runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five. Jay Dorenkamp provided an inning of relief during which he yielded a hit and struck out one.

W-G had 10 steals in the win and received a total of nine walks from the three freshmen pitchers CAM (19-3) used.

Joe Rhodes had a single, a double and walked three times while driving in two runs, with Pacey Moats having two hits and two RBIs and Reese Jamison a single and a double. Bryce Achenbach had a single and two RBIs while stealing three bases and scoring three times, with Trevor Simmons swiping three bags as well. Tate Lettow had two RBIs and a base hit, with Jack Grell producing three RBIs.

Kolby Nelson had a double, a single and a RBI for CAM, with Mitchell Williamson adding a double while Lane Spieker swatted a solo home run.
