
All-District, All-Raccoon River Conference and RRC All-Academic honors have been bestowed on members of the Perry softball team.
Eighth-grader Lydia Olejniczak wasted little time in making her presence felt and was rewarded with a spot on the Class 4A All-West District team. Olejniczak hit .405 overall, with 32 hits and 22 runs scored. She hit four home runs, three doubles and a triple, had eight RBIs and was 11-of-12 on stolen base attempts.
Olejniczak hit .316 in RRC action, belting two of her home runs in league play and safely stealing six bases on six tries. She struck out just five times in 44 plate appearances and was named to the RRC First Team.
Freshman pitcher Jayna Kenney was selected for the RRC Second Team. Kenney threw 48-2/3 innings with a 7.62 ERA but showed steady improvement as the season progressed. She his .297 with 11 hits in conference competition.
Named Honorable Mention RRC was sophomore outfielder Kennedy Tunink. She drove in four runs and played excellent defense in both center and left field.
In addition, seven Jayettes were recognized as All-Academic honorees by the RRC. Players are required to be a letter winner, in grades 10-12 and maintain a 3.25 GPA. Jayettes earning the designation were Adriana Eastman, Jasmyn Barck, Cassidy Heck, Libby Hastings, Bella Nath, Jasmine Shriver and Tunink.
