Former Bluejay golfer Zach Roberts lofts a short chip toward the pin on the fifth hole of the Perry Golf and Country Club during the Trent Miner Parent/Child Tournament last summer.

The Perry Golf and Country Club will serve as host Sunday for the 14th annual Trent Miner Tourney, established in remembrance of the former Perry teen.

Trent “T-Bone” was the son of Dan and Joelle Miner. His courageous three-year battle with a brain tumor ended in April of 2005 at the age of 19. Trent’s family and uncounted friends have joined the community in supporting the Trent Miner Scholarship Fund and the Make-A-Wish and caringbridge charities, all of who receive funds generated by the tournament.

The tourney is a parent/child affair, although the adult can be any relative or friend over age 18.

Shotgun starts will be held at 9 a.m. for the 13-under tourney, with the 14-over groups teeing off at 1 p.m. The former set will play with an alternate shot format while the older section will play with best shot rules.

Cost is $10 per person (lunch included) for the 13U groups and $25 per person (meal included) for the older players.

Longest drive, longest putt, closest-to-the-pin and other hole contests will be held, as will a silent auction and a raffle.

Openings remain, and to join all the fun or gather more information call the PG&CC at 515-465-3852.
