  • A local business owner requested extra patrol overnight because he was having issues with a door that would not close.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County Ambulance with a medical call in the 900 block of N. Cedar Street.
  • A caller reported a suspicious vehicle that parks regularly in the 600 block of N. Vine Street and is always occupied by one male. An officer located the vehicle and spoke with the male, who said he parks under the shade tree in between his two jobs and rests.
  • John Funcke reported he fell victim to an internet scam. He was provided checks that were deposited in his account. He purchased money cards and supplied the scammer with the numbers off of the cards, allowing them to cash the cards. Funke is out over $1,700. These crimes are nearly impossible to investigate as they occur in the Internet world.
  • Brittany Olson reported possible animal abuse occurring to puppies somewhere in Jefferson. Olson is working to get an exact location.
  • Jefferson Police Department Officers assisted an Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Officer in the execution of a search warrant at 607 E. Reed St. After several complaints of deceased red foxes on the neighboring properties in last few days. Numerous air rifles, scopes and ammo were seized by the DNR. The DNR will handle any citations or criminal charges in the matter.
  • Chris Harbaugh reported his dog got a hold of a stray cat and injured it in the 500 block of S. Walnut Street. Harbaugh said he wanted assistance with the injured animal. An officer was unable to make contact with Harbaugh to assist him.
  • A caller reported an unlicensed driver leaving 106 W. Washington St. The officer checked the NCIC System and learned the female does have a valid driver’s license and took no further action.
  • A caller reported an unlicensed male driving away from 777 Wild Rose Lane. An officer was unable to locate the vehicle.
  • David Hoggatt requested assistance form an officer in the 400 block of W. Edgewood Avenue. Hoggett said he was giving a neighbor a driving lesson, and they got into an argument. The juvenile requested to get out of his vehicle and was now refusing to get back in with him. The officer spoke with the two and helped them resolve the issue.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County Ambulance with a medical call in the 400 block of N. Chestnut Street.
  • A local retail store reported the theft of alcohol at 106 W. Washington St. The business is providing the officer with video footage of the event for the investigation.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
