TAMA — Saturday’s 90-mile ride home from the South Tama County tourney was likely devoid of much cheer for the Perry volleyball team, as the Jayette squad was handed four consecutive losses in as many matches.

Perry (6-9) fell to Lisbon, 21-11 and 21-7, to Grinnell, 21-16 and 21-4 and to Belle Plaine, 21-18 and 21-10. They also dropped a 21-13 and 21-13 decision to East Marshall.

An inability to effectively serve the ball all but erased any chances of a Perry victory. The Jayettes were a combined 75-of-92 (.815) with just four aces. Perry also struggled to effectively record kills, ending the day with 28 kills, less than four per set. The squad averages 5.86 kills per set, 47th of 48 4A teams.

Kacy Nevitt led the team with nine kills, with Ashley Cerna adding six. Peyton Tunink and Lanie Fish had three kills apiece, Taylor Atwell, Jasmine Shriver and Bella Nath two kills each and Magley Orellana with one. Atwell had 14 assists to lead Perry, with Nath making nine.

Nevitt had five blocks, Fish and Shriver two apiece and Atwell and Tunink one each. Orellana’s 38 digs was the team high, with Shriver (18), Nevitt (17) and Mary Ann Reisberg (8) among the higher totals.

Orellans served 12-of-14 with one ace, with Nevitt 10-12-1, Fish 4-6-1 and Jasmin Olmos 6-6-1. Atwell was 7-of-7, Jenisis Cerna 6-of-9, Ashley Cerna 4-of-6, Rieberg 9-of-12, Tunink 6-of-8 and Shriver 11-of-12.
