A Des Moines woman was arrested for allegedly shoplifting about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in a retail store in the Jordan Creek Towncenter in West Des Moines, and a search of her person allegedly uncovered a variety of illegal drugs.
Nicole Lynn Mundy, 34, of 8216 Lista Lane, Des Moines, was arrested by officers of the West Des Moines Police Department on charges of fourth-degree theft and three counts of possession of a controlled substance-third or subsequent offense.
Court records claim Mundy “did conceal on her person $326.56 worth of clothing” and “did admit to concealing the items so she could re-sell them to friends for money.”
Also allegedly found in Mundy’s possession were “a small plastic baggy” containing marijuana, “a small glass container containing methamphetamine” and “six orange capsules identified as amphetamine and dextroamphetamine,” according to records.
Mundy allegedly told officers “she received the pills from someone else awhile ago and just hasn’t used them.”
Mundy is held at the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 18 in Dallas County District Court.
Mundy was previously convicted in Polk County District Court of first-offense possession of marijuana in September 2017, of a controlled substance violation in December 2018 and of possession of a controlled substance in April 2019.
