WOODWARD — Wet weather may have caused the cancellation of Thursday’s Homecoming parade for Woodward-Granger, but it did little to dampen the excitement of the coronation ceremony for the 2019 king and queen.

Held after a dinner at the school, the event saw Reese Jamison crowned king while Quinn Kaufman earned the diadem and yellow roses bestowed upon the queen.

Queen candidates included Mae Anderson, Katelyn Bandstra, Emma Drake and Izabelle Meier, with Bryce Achenbach, Kaya Bowlsby, Jayden Dorenkamp and Jack Grell the candidates for king.

W-G (4-2, 2-0) will face Pleasantville (4-2, 1-1) at Hawk Stadium tonight at 7 p.m. in a Class 1A District 7 showdown. The hosts are coming off a 60-6 pasting of Woodward Academy while Pleasantville was handed a 54-13 loss by Pella Christian.
